So, I was reading this amazing blog here (she writes about psychological aspects of shopping and as at the moment I’m a second hand psychology student her blog ticks just all the right boxes for me. Besides she’s so eloquent and so good with words but I guess it’s just natural if you’re working on your PhD. I know that as my brother is also perfect in wording his thoughts into texts as in a mere month he’ll be officially PhD! Very proud sista here!) and it made me realize how f*** up my brain is or more accurately how predictable it is!
The thing is – at the moment I can’t stop thinking about shorts. I was just two steps away from buying these short even considering they are 2 sizes too big for me, even 3 if we take into account ‘large to size’ note ('cause I could get them altered, you know) and they are ‘dry clean only’. Hell I was ready! And why exactly I was so tempted by them? For so many reasons – I saw a post on short shorts somewhere on interwebs that led me to realization I have only couple of shorts in my wardrobe and only one pair that is work appropriate but mostly because I'd been watching Hart of Dixie and Rachel Bilson looks so good and so cute in shorts (Ginta, hello, she’s 1,57 cm according to imdb, of course, she looks cute, you, girl, are 1,73 cm, you see the difference?). The mere-exposure effect, thank you very much!
So, Ginta’s brain, can we make a deal? You won’t mislead me from now on and I promise to be good to you in exchange?

Runājot par krāsām. Pēdējā laikā mani intriģē šis brūnā un zilā savienojums. Būsim godīgi brūnā nav tā pati dzīvīgākā krāsa un reti kurš tajā izskatās labi. Tāpēc jārod kāda alternatīva pieeja brūnā valkāšanai. Un zilās krāsas piešprice, es domāju, ir tieši tas kas vajadzīgs, lai brūno padarītu interesantu. Brūna blūze ar ziliem svārkiem. Brūns mētelis ar zilu šalli. Brūna kleita ar zilām zeķbiskēm. Variācijām nav robežu!
Kā jau jūs sapratāt, šis pētījums tika veikts ļoti savtīgos nolūkos, lai pavērtu durvis brūnā biežākai valkāšanai manā ikdienā.

Talking about colors. Lately I've been intrigued about the mix of blue and brown. Let's be honest brown is pretty boring color and only few look good wearing brown. So there's a need to find the solution to this brown problem. And I think this is it - just add blue to the mix and brown brightens and lightens up! Brown shirt with blue skirt. Brown coat with blue scarf. Brown dress with blue tights. There are no limits!
As you've already guesses this research was conducted in very selfish purposes to wear and love more my brown clothes.

Un tāda tā istaba ir palikusi arī visus šos 15 gadus. Katru reizi, kad esot pie mammas tajā ieeju, man gandrīz vai uznāk nostaļģija pēc grunge, nelaimīgām mīlestībām un pēc sajūtas, ka viss vēl ir tikai priekšā!

I look at myself & think - OMG, I look like my teenage bedroom! When I was 16 I painted walls of my bedroom bright orange & everything else matte black. Crazy! I know. Room has stayed the same for the last 15 years. And now every time I'm at my mom's and end up in the room in a way I feel nostalgic about the grunge era, my teenage loves and life that will only start.

Starp citu, vai es esmu vienīgā kas nāk no novalkātāju dzimtas? Vai arī visi vectēvi, tēvi un brāļi valkā lietas līdz tās krīt nost no ķermeņa vai sadalās valkāšanas laikā? Un es to nedomāju bomzīgā ziņā.
Un vēl kas, man reizēm šķiet negodīgi, ka vīrieši var staigāt ar ieplēstām, nošmulētām, novalkātām lietām, bet sievietēm ir jābūt svaigām, tīrām un jaunām. (Tas attiecas ne tikai uz garderobēm. :)) Pie tam - tas vēl arī labi izskatās! Nu, un, lūk, tas patiesi ir negodīgi!

Well worn, dirty or torn - for me it's the best proof of a loved, purposefully bought thing that fits so perfectly in your closet that you can't imagine your life without it.
BTW, am I the only one who comes from the family where every male member wears their stuff to shreds? My grandpas, dad, brothers wear (wore) their things till they fall down from their bodies. And I don't mean that in the homeless type of rags but in that signature look type of way.
Also I think it's awfully unfair that men can wear teared, soiled, worn things but women have to be fresh, clean and young. (That applies not only to their respective wardrobes. :)) Besides men manage to look perfect like that. And that is really unjust!

Februāris ir zīmīgs ne tikai ar to, ka tajā svinu savu bloga un Twitter jubileju, ne tikai ar to, ka regulāri kādu nopludinu vai vismaz cenšos un ne tikai ar to, ka ik pārgadus dabūju nogulēt mājās kādu laiku gūto traumu dēļ. Februāris ir zīmīgs arī ar to, ka tajā sākas nākamā rudens - ziemas modes nedēļas.
Un kā katru gadu mani interesē tikai pāris kolekcijas, jo jau sen esmu sapratusi, ka mani ar trendiem tik viegli nevar paņemt, ka man ir svarīgāk kā uz savu esošo apģērbu skapi vienkārši paskatīties savādāk. Tā teikt - man vajag kādu kas man palīdz atvērt acis.
Es teiktu, ka ar divu P (Paul Smith un Phillip Lim) palīdzību varētu pilnīgi mierīgi nokomplektēt visu garderobi. Pauls Smith dienai un Phillip Lim vakaram. Es būtu pilnīgi laimīga!

February is not only significant with my blogger and Twitter anniversaries, not only with my quatro-annual trials to flood somebody and my bi-annual staying at home due to traumas. But also with the fact that Fashion Week starts!
There are no changes in my preferences, I have my eye on the same guys, I can't wait for the same collections as usual. As you already know I'm not interested in trends I'm more interested how to update my wardrobe & to try to see it differently. I count on these guys to help me to open my eyes.
I'd be absolutely happy if I had only two Ps in my closet - Paul Smith for my daywear and Phillip Lim for my evening wear. I'd be in heaven!

Es ļoti ceru, ka jūs bijāt nenormāli satraukušies, kur es esmu palikusi un kas ar mani ir noticis?!? Nekas traks, tikai kāja čupā. Neieslīgšu medicīniskās detaļās, tikai teikšu to, ka šodien beidzot pēc 12 dienām biju darbā. Laime pilnīga! Es nejokoju - nopietni. Un ja jūs zinātu cik pārlaimīga biju sestdien, kad beidzot 10 dienu ieslodzījuma pirmo reizi izgāju ārā! Tas nekas, ka ārā droši vien bija kādi -20C. Es biju laimīga! Epopeja vēl nav beigusies, kruķi joprojām ir mani labākie draugi. Ja jums paveiksies (ja man radīsies iedvesma), tad taps arī personal style bildes uz kruķiem. ;) Un runājot par iedvesmu - pār spīti tam, ka biju mājas un laika bija vairāk kā saprašanas, kkā pilnīgi negribējās blogot. Šķiet kāds tur sakars kājai ar iedvesmu, bet laikam jau bija.

I hope you were worried sick about me and wondered where I have disappeared?!? Nothing special - just problems with my foot. I won't bore you with medical details I'll just say that crutches are my best friends now and will be for a while. Today for the first time in 12 days I was at work. It was absolutely amazing! Saturday for the first time in 10 days I was outside and despite -20C or more I was over the heels happy! I won't promise but if you'll be good I'll post personal style photos on crutches. ;) I wasn't very into blogging for the past two weeks I guess I was down because of the leg. But now I've been out in people and I want fun!

Ja ārā ir apmācies, snieg, ielas žļurkst un ziema ar pilnu sparu ir šeit, tad atliek tikai iečirkot matus un piešaut dzīvei krāsas.
Starp citu, šobrīd man ir kkāda zīda kreklu un stabuleņu ēra. Šķiet, ka vismaz pāris reizes nedēļā man mugurā ir tieši šada kombinācija.

BTW, at the moment I'm loving silk shirts with skinny pants a lot. And I mean what I say - A LOT!
